Underwater drilling and blasting used for rock dredging are associated with several unwanted effects like excessive ground vibrations and whiplash. These, in turn, cause structural damage to surrounding vessels, an annoyance to the public and most importantly damage to marine life due to excessive underwater shock wave pressure.

The severity of such unwanted effects depends on the number of explosives used, the distance from the blast, the properties of the medium through which the vibration is transmitted, and various blast design parameters. Project and Constraint:

 ISPDL was supposed to conduct an underwater blasting operation next to a structure on a critical port. Due to the site positioning being very tricky, ISPDL brought Uttam Blastech on board as a consultant.

Our Approach:

 Uttam Blastech conducted a pre-blast survey as per the international specifications and suggested some measures that would help in a safe blast

Client Name : Boskalis

Project and Constraint:

 Boskalis was supposed to conduct an underwater blasting operation next to some critical structure in the port. Due to the site positioning being very tricky, Boskalis brought Uttam Blastech on board as a consultant.

Our Approach:

 After a thorough pre-blast survey, Uttam Blastech monitored the site for vibrations and made a propagation equation. This custom equation helped in proceeding with the operation safely.

Final Outcome:

 Boskalis could safely execute the project
